“A mother might give birth to a child but
before that a child gives birth to a mother”

Children
are often referred to as “A gift from god” or “Children of God”. On pondering
these 3-4 words statement have great meaning. These little fellows are
boundless source of love, happiness, affection, and can help an individual feel
a plethora of emotions that one may otherwise never feel or for that matter
even know that they exist within them. Such is the power of a child and it’s
innocence.
One
can draw an analogy between a child and a wrapped present. Before a child is
born in a country like India one is unaware even of something that is at the
core of ones being, the sex of the child. One is universally unaware of a
number of important factors like, will it resemble its mother or father, how
many pounds will it weigh etc. It really is god’s gift and thus god’s choice to
give one a child of his choice or as per his plan. Even further on when the child is born there
is so much to unravel about it, that the parents are most time spell bound and
left amazed at simple things the child does. No parent can tell you at the
birth of the child, if their child will be a wild child or a wall flower,
neither can one know what his tastes, liking, choices, wishes, dreams, hobbies,
and thus personality will be like. Since the time a child is conceived it is
like a wrapped gift which cant be unwrapped all at once.
Children,
in this process require parents to help them unravel themselves. The role of a
parent or guardian is not an easy one. These mysteries in fact make it even
more complex and important to understand a child and nurture him or her
accordingly. The Child needs many things from their parents, at different
stages of its life. He or she may not remember the early days, but certainly
senses the feelings.
A
true gift to every child is receiving what it needs and when it needs it. A
child through its growing years will always need varying things from their
parents, After all for them their parents are their hero’s and are perfect! The
child may need his or her parent on one day to tell them why the earth is round
and on another just listen to their concerns about their compass box. On some
days they want to be shown love, care, compassion and on others motivation to
let them know they are a bright star and can do it! The support a child needs
is immense and varies from child to child, as each child is special in its own
way. One may turn out to be a fantastic actor while another may be meant to be
a teacher. Giving your child what it needs and when it needs is something that
parents find hard. But again it is a child that gives birth to the parent and
teaches them how to be parents. When parents understand these things, and can
support their child accordingly not only will they enrich their lives and their
child’s life, they will give their child the most precious gift; A gift of
loving and believing in themselves always, which will help them be strong
individuals in society.
Every
individual usually hold on memories of childhood close to their heart. The
emotions could be of feelings ranging from love, affection, upset or remorse
depending on the memories they build in the forming years. These could be the
most precious gifts or worst nightmares, Choose carefully. Let your child know
this Children’s Day that he or she is loved and is indeed very special!
