I have always been a good shopper and planner, thanks to
which I could always buy my friends and myself good gifts. I thought it was my
forte, my thing. You are getting my drift? I always thought gifting was a piece
of cake, and people who said its their job to plan gifts, were just making it
up or were being paid to do the absolute obvious. Well turns out I was wrong!
My pretty little bubble burst a few days back.
It was a bright sunny day, when I was sitting on my seat
making a presentation and humming a song in my head. Well it was the last task
on my to do list for the day, so I was pretty relaxed, my boss walked up to my
cubicle and started having a polite conversation and then requested me to help
him with two tasks
- Find a “fantastic” (his word not mine) gift for our biggest account, he meant Mr. Turakia the marketing manager of a renowned automobile brand for Diwali.
- Find Diwali gift options, something that can be gifted to each individual of the entire mid- level management in our company.
I
gave him a bright smile, and said “Sure I should have the required by the end
of the day.” at my confident best. Clearly I was feeling like he had just told
me here Lola go shopping and be paid for it. Ha what a lovely day it is, I had
thought to myself.
I
finished my presentation and I began my search online. My confidence started to
abandon me slowly when I wasn’t sure of any of the ideas, if I liked something,
I wasn’t sure it was communicating the right sentiment or if Mr. Turakia would
actually like that gift. Then I would find gifts that wouldn’t fit the budget
and finding one gift that suited a wide range of people belonging to different
cultures and having different likings just seemed like an ugly joke. Yes the
joke was on me.

most importantly time constraint.
Giftease’s

and after having gone through this process I decided to make a list of top ten
corporate gifting solutions
- Leather accessories: the fine fabric speaks the corporate language, may it be a laptop bag or a wallet, it speaks sophistication.
- Gadgets: gadgets always speak quality and something that can be used multiple times, and thus you can be remembered for a longer period of time, every time the gift is used.
- Confectionery: Who can ever say no to something sweet? They are the language of indulgence, joy and celebration. Whatever the occasion may be, sweets always sweeten them further.
- Personalized gifts: what’s better and more thoughtful than something personalized, however small it may be. It gives a sense of importance and value.
- Perfume: It speaks pure indulgence and sophistication. A perfect gift for a client’s birthday or anniversary, especially if you have a great rapport with them.
- Gourmet food basket: A gourmet food basket speaks of finer things in life. An elite experience, one given to a person held in high regard or value.
- Home décor: A wonderful gift option to give various people at once especially on occasions such as Diwali as it is always of use.
- Apparels: Gifting a scarf or a saree to a woman is seen as a mature gift while the same sentiment can be expressed by a tie for a man.
- Stationery: high quality stationery like internationally known pens, or stationery sets for ones desk are appropriate gifts that can be given without having much knowledge about the other individual and yet speak volumes about the givers sophistication.
- Wine or Scotch: Gifting a rare wine or an aged scotch shows exclusivity and luxury, which is only shared with someone of high value.
