Abhay, he is a rebel, a music buff, a wild child or as I
call him an Impulsive idiot. He is my younger brother. He is six years younger
to me and therefore like a child to me, he knows that and always takes
advantage of my weak nerve as I am the one who hides his secrets from the
family and pampers him. He and me are like a small gang.
Dev, he is serious, intelligent, headstrong, and
responsible. He is the picture perfect older brother ( almost out of a hindi
film). He is a doctor by profession, a neurologist to be more precise. He is
super protective and the soul reason no boy flirted with me in school ( imagine
my upset).
It seems like a cycle, in which one protects me, and I am
protecting another.
While Dev and I are married, Abhay is just out of college
and still the baby. This year we will all be celebrating Diwali at Dev’s new
house. His wife Ankita, is very loving and welcoming, she is planning the
entire evening. However I still need to
do my bit , that is ensure I have a gift for everyone. I have already bought
gifts for Ankita and my parents. Now I need to buy gifts for Dev and Abhay,
the proverbial chalk and cheese
siblings.
I am not so worried about Abhay, I’m sure I will find
something he likes, if I end up buying him a Diwali gift he doesn’t like, he
will ensure I buy him another gift, and probably an extra one for not getting
it right at the first go. Such is Abhay. Dev on the other hand doesn’t have too
many hobbies, and is a very private person. He will never ever say he doesn’t
like a gift, which makes me wonder each year how he actually feels about the
gift.
As expected, I easily found a gift for Abhay. I bought him a
t-shirt combo along with a quirky set of a mug and a book that said “ DO Epic
Shit” it seemed so Abhay, I felt like the quote was specially created for him.
This was easy, the other one not so. I thought of books and
then said NO. I thought of wallet then said NO. I thought of at least ten more
things and then said no. You get the drill. I was exhausted looking for a gift
for Dev, I had been to every shop in the vicinity but I still couldn’t
understand what should I get for him. Then I decided to look for gifts online
and access options while sitting in a chair rather than strolling in the heat.
After browsing through hundreds of products, my “oh so serious brother” would
definitely value a nice watch, and that’s when I found the baby, a sparkling
beauty, Sonata men’s analog watch in gold.
This time I’m fully confident that both my brothers are
going to love my gifts, I hope in return they decide to pamper their only
sister in words and in deed.
